RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
I want to be clear, though I posted this earlier...
All of the images met the theme and are vegetable/fruit based! If part of your judging of the image is based on whether or not it met the theme, I can assure you it did. I purposely withheld posting the source images hoping it would add to the mystery. Once the round ends the participants are free to post their sources if they want. Not required, though I encourage it. dsclink@misfitsquirrels.com I'm not a complete idiot... Some parts are missing. |

RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
Once again, The Misfit Squirrels don't disappoint in Round 1. Great work and creativity by all. It's really amazing how different all the entries look considering everyone had to use fruits and/or veggies. Fantastic!

RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
Amazing work, Misfit Squirrels! I'd be upset that I was unable to participate... except for the fact that I was partying in New Orleans instead.
I can't wait to see the source images (and who did what). ![]() ![]() ![]()
Have an adequate day. |

RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
Since the voting ends at 8am for me and I'm coding a big project at work, I won't be around in the morning to guess or congratulate the winner. So I left everyone a comment with my vote.
Some are sad that we only had 10 entries. But here's the half-full perspective: since we opened the new doors, ~33 members from the old site have logged on here. So 10 entries is nearly 30% of the current membership. That's excellent! I personally think this is a tough challenge for Round 1, but it seemed to inspire those who entered as overall quality is very high. So as the guy who pushed the ball down the hill to get it rolling, I just want to take the time now to thank everyone who did submit and everyone who votes and supports the entrants. You may be misfits, but I wouldn't want to be surrounded by any other gang. Thank you!! "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge." - Stephen Hawking |

RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
GbyP brings up a point that I forgot to post.
If you would like to make comments on the entries you can email or PM them to me. I will send a PM to each contestant with all of the comments I received. Make sure you indicate which image each comment is for. The comments will be anonymous unless you specify that you want your name included. I highly encourage this. Alternatively you can always post comments in the discussion thread once the voting for the round ends. We've done this in past tournaments. I can tell you that even simple, quickie comments make a difference as it shows you care. We've all felt the thrill of checking a contest and seeing someone make a comment on our 'shops. dsclink@misfitsquirrels.com I'm not a complete idiot... Some parts are missing. |

Thank you, Vortex Dweller. Tbh, after the work I out in creating that portrait entirely from fruit, I'm kind of crushed.

RE: Are you ready for some Mayhem?
Wow... I'm shocked... thank you. I gave out 3 10s and put mine beneath them because I felt they better met the spirit of the challenge. One of those was impishimpi's... :-( One of the hardest things about hosting is that you see the sources & a well made image. But also know that it's so good that, without the sources, folk can't see what was done. Right wavion? This happened to Tommy Moo too. So now as a player now I'm careful... I blow stuff up and look carefully.
Anyway, I assure you, I'm neither an alien nor a predator. But I didn't want to do a self-portrait because that would be too scary! I was drawing a blank on this then saw veggie Alien out there on the web and decided he needed a friend. It's all veggie & fruit - and I curse Clink for this - it has the 2nd most layers I ever used for an image! About 3 stringbean dreadlocks in I thought "WTF did I get myself into??!!" :-) But had to finish it. And thought if it didn't qualify it should at least make a good wallpaper. At work and talk too much as is so here is a veggie/fruit map and I'll post sources later. Again thanks...

Ask wavion, he understands that sort of disapointment. I still don't understand how his South Park Cemetery did so badly. Yours is probably one of those cases where seeing the sources would have helped a lot.... so let's see 'em! I'll post mine later tonight, but I'm sure you can tell the majority of 'em.
