RE: EPIC Project Chatter
Wowzers. Looking at that pic reminded me of my childhood friend. We both went to sign up to fight in the big war together. He was too young though (and shorter that the sign that said "YOU MUST BE TALLER THAN THIS SIGN TO ENTER THIS RIDE"). Any ways..the next day was daylight savings time on a leap year and they let him in. The last time I ever saw him he was off to join his new unit...The 404th Marsupial Air Squadron...known to those who know such things as "The Fighting Pandas". A great bunch of guys..shame that thing that happened to them all in Peru. That pic is like a tribute. Only betterer. Next time I'll tell you about the time he married his sister...you don't happen to have any pics on that theme do you? That sure would be great. Summer camp is great....say Hi to Mom.

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
Question about dimensions: the guidelines say
PIC SIZE: 1920 x 1080 Post inline: 960px wide X 720px Tall But these are different proportions. If I reduce the big pic to 960 wide, that yields a height of 540. Help? |

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
I think half of 1920 x 1080 makes a bunch more sense. That's what I interpreted the ravings of our leader to mean. But then again... maybe he only wants us to display 87% of our pics here to confuse the man.

Letterbox.
![]() OH! And also, just an informal Poll: How's it going? I'm pretty much done with one image, and about 75% done with the second. Lend me your epic ears! Sing sweet muses! I think the last image will be the most difficult for me. |

Sorry. I was having a mid-life crisis the last few weeks. I turn 51 in a week - that proves that it was a mid-life deal. Monday night I will send out a new message to all with proper dimensions. In the meantime, you should just listen to tv_news_guy since he is the resident cinematographer. 1920 x 1080 for video image with 100px on L & R edges that can be covered or be blank 960 x 540 for inline image or 50% of the video image Only Green, Orange, and Pink colors. OMG! GbyP is having a mid-wife crisis. Should we be expecting more from him? Will he deliver on time? Instead of answers will there be a pregnant pause?
Tune in Monday to find out. Same Bat time. Same Bat channel. All work no play makes Bill something something |

I'm hoping to devote some time later this week, as there's no games to distract me. I've been trying to get the photography thing actually off the ground so maybe I can get some attention, and maybe a job or 2. Lately photoshop is largely a photo touch-up program for me... |

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
"1920 x 1080 for video image
with 100px on L & R edges that can be covered or be blank" Just to be perfectly clear: are those 100px included in the 1920? The idea, I take it, is that nothing significant should be included on those left and right edges. I am still in the stage of gathering thoughts and material for my first image. I've been busy recently with a great trip to Spain and Italy! |

(06-12-2012 02:40 AM)Mister I Wrote: "1920 x 1080 for video image Yes. Your canvas is 1920 x 1080. However, don't put anything you don't want covered in the 100px Right & Left margins. Because until all of the images are submitted and we start to create a narrative, we won't know if your image will be scrolled into from the side or zoomed into from "above". And we will need to do "in-between" work to bridge images. So do NOT leave those edges blank, but don't put anything near & dear to your heart in those margins. If you have Photoshop (or even Elements I believe), I suggested using a layer mask (or simple a new layer with boxes drawn on) to gauge how deep 100 pixels would be. But only as a tool for you... the submitted image should have no bars or blank regions. Here is a visual example: 1920x1080wBars Example This was a recent entry in a PSC contest and was originally 1280x720 so the resized dimensions are a little skewed. Now if the left fin of the Right Narwhal was near and dear, I would move the Narwhal more toward the center. But it doesn't cover truly critical data so I'd likely leave it as is (and might request that the in-between artist try not to cover it up!). The circle represents a drill-down spot. You don't need to specify a location (with a marker like I show), but just want to show how little an opening is requested. Like the edges, I just ask that you allow some space of 100 px diameter that may allow us to drill down from or into your pic. "We are the Pandas. Not saying Awwww is futile." - Napalm Pandanista |
