ElectronChaser vs. libranoelrose - Skills H2H

We need to get this ball rolling, so we'll start simple.

In the Open Forum ElectronChaser challenged libranoelrose to a Skills Challenge, without identifying the skill.

This one will be easy - with a twist.

Obesify* a well-known rail-thin celebrity... and make it FUNNY!
*made up word meaning "to make fat as hell"

Limitations:
must be a well-known celebrity (no obscure Lithuanian jockeys or Uruguayan marathoners)
must alter something in the surrounding image to make the image funny
(I am aware of the fact that "fat" isn't always funny and can be a sensistive subject...
contestants are urged to be aware also)

Make every effort to have your image in by Wednesday April 14.
Poll will be set to expire Saturday April 17 (10 days from now).

Suggested celebrities to include, but not limited to:

Courtney Cox
Nicole Richie
Gwyneth Paltrow (no, you may not use images from Shallow Hal)
Either Olsen Twin
Jeff Goldblum
(that last one was to indicate that there might be skinny male celebs you could choose)

CONTESTANTS: Remember to vote for the other person so your votes cancel each other out!
(This was the procedure at the old site and it seemed to work well)

Just so you know, a similar idea was proposed by Hello Dolly at Squirrel's site and it was shot down by the Admins (then) on 2 counts:
(1) It is a sensitive subject for some folk and
(2) celebrity photos are rarely public domain and there is greater risk (to you the participant and to me the site owner) where the image subject IS the actress/actor - it's that "what proportion of the image is used" rule. GeeGee just received some notice re: his old Photobucket account about a celebrity pic that was removed from his portfolio. Libranoelrose uses Photobucket - I would prefer not to put him at risk.

This is the reason we didn't use a celebrity couple for the Aging Challenge of Round 3 of Tournament 2.

I'm on the fence about this challenge, but fortunately there are 3 Modmins so a clear majority can be had. Please hold off on this until we have a chance to discuss it.

Yeah guys, please realize that I'm not worried about being sued - I've been liquidating my assets over the last few years anyway so yeah, here... take this lawnchair. What I worry about is the site being shutdown and you all losing a playground. It does piss me off that I have to 'worry' at all... that's why I want Jazzy and dsclink's opinions too.


Yugoboy would still provide the challenge, it's not about him. Like I said, it was an idea that came up before.

How weird. It seems like satirical/humorous modifications of images of public figures would fall into the category of "fair use." But what do I know -- we are living in a litigious age!

I believe Worth1000 has run several contests like this, creating ghastly modifications of celebrities.

And Worth has lawyers. :toothy2: Are celebrities "public figures" or private citizens... I think that is the spin.

I was on the fence anyway... about the worse that can happen is that I'll be asked to "cease and desist", we'll have to pull the images, and the site might get a black-eye from Google. Well it's a private site and I have no advertisers to offend. And it's not like this site competes with Fark or Worthless for traffic. It's complete BS that I should have to 'worry' at all.

** That said, I would like to leave this up to libranoelrose. Since GeeGee did recently receive that Phototbucket notice, I don't want to put libranoelrose at risk for a freeze on his image host account or whatever. So if you feel comfortable taking on this challenge, it's OK by me. If you don't, say so and Yugoboy will come up with a new challenge.

I have a general idea on how to do this, but there are very few tutorials on the subject that I can find. There are certainly a lot of tuts on how to make a fat person skinny though...
