johnebones: odembones
Continued from my last MoMMp post on the Scrutinizer (something Iâve been talking about for a year or so).
I just got back from an art exhibit in New Orleans sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons. The theme of the gallery was âwounded in actionâ, and was based on the physical and emotional effects of war injuries. ![]() My entry was a series of 3 images (representing grief, despair, and death) supported by a tripod structure made up of interlocked external fixation frames, all previously used and removed from trauma patients. The provisional framework: ![]() Yugoboy suggested that I use some type of durable media to preserve the images, and I ended up getting them enameled on to 3 metal plates (sort of a 3d triptych). The final version: ![]() I had a pretty good spot up front: ![]() ![]() A description for each image as well as a final destination for the fixator framework was placed on a series of dogtags (weâre not allowed to reuse these frames in the USA. A silly waste of expensive hardware). ![]() ![]() Lots of interesting and creepy stuff at the exhibit: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't wear a beret on opening night, but I did spend a lot of time in the French Quarter afterwards. At least I think I did, it's kind of a blur. |

They had waiters in tuxedos wandering through the crowd serving wine and Hors d'Åuvres (hence the good turn out). Lots of fun. ![]() Security was there to prevent photography or unauthorized handling (of the exhibits). I loved the 'do not touch signs'. My entry had been used to stabalize major long bone fractures, so it was totally un-fragile and basically unbreakable:

Waldo's next victim
The "Waldo's next victim" game.
I ride bikes with a bunch of 50-something relatives and friends. Last weekend we stopped next to a dark and creepy forest and took some pictures. I made a number of changes in photoshop and turned it into a team challenge (the woman in pink is âWaldoâs next victimâ). The goal was to spot 20 differences* between the 2 images: Before: ![]() After: ![]() The first person on the team who found all the changes received a bottle of Blue Sapphire gin: ![]() *For extra credit, thereâs actually a very subtle 21st change. |

I think I got all 20. Maybe the 21st as well.

Re: johnebones: odembones
There was a Fark contest a while ago with one of those "cougar warning" signs... 'twas quite funny.
Didn't our own ennuipoet win that one? Or was it wavion? I didn't count the changes, but I found a bunch of them. |

cbleek: Thank's! I'm impressed by your handwork as well.
ElectronChaser, Yugoboy: here are the answers to "Waldo's next Victim" ![]() ![]() Our team name is the "Gin and peloTonics" (we're a very social group). The martini glass on the fanny pack (#9) is a draft of a team logo I'm working on (not a gin and tonic, but close enough):

Re: johnebones: odembones
Nice logo, but watch out Dr Bones, I have a friend who got a DUI while riding a bicycle. And a write-up in the local paper so everyone knew about it.
This happened outside State College, PA a few years ago. Many few years ago... |

I was surprised at how well our jerseys matched the draft logo. ![]() ![]() There were 19 of us on the ride. RE: johnebones: odembones
Just a fun update. The 'wounded in action' exhibit I mentioned last year is finally winding down.
The gallery has been touring the country since 2010 and has stopped in several venues including New Orleans, New York, and Chicago. ![]() A few weeks ago I was interviewed by the AMA about the exhibit and they're going to use my entry as the lead story in one of their editorials about 'physician artwork'. Pretty cool! completely unrelated image: playing with filters and low light photography
