OH! And also, just an informal Poll:

How's it going? I'm pretty much done with one image, and about 75% done with the second.

Lend me your epic ears! Sing sweet muses! I think the last image will be the most difficult for me.

As seems to be usual, my ever-so-perfect ideas for all three have mutated so much I barely recognize them. Which means that I will have to do them over again again. I think I'm about 350% done with the first one, and about 220% or so on the others. The first one is hardest so far, as my machine has trouble digesting 70 meg files - damn beastie has at least 200 layers.

It's probably the music I listen to while I work. German penis metal can really mess with your head.

But I have noticed a nassssty habit from college creeping in as well, the one that made me think far-away deadlines are forever far away, so I let the "design" part of the process take forever, and then I have to either rush the production or bail altogether. With someone barking deadlines at me week after week, I am amazingly productive, but on my own I take forever. I seem to work better with a whip.

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
Well bad news as I'll likely be pushing out the deadline. I'm not entirely convinced anyone is still here. This is like the quietest ever. And it coincides with like the busiest my life has been ever. Both bad busy and good busy.

This weekend I ought to be able to crack some whips here. So be sure to show up in your favorite whipping suit.

OH, it's quiet around here, but I rather think that it's due to the epic effort everyone is putting into their three epic shops. Finally started my third piece, but am seeing a roadblock up ahead. Hopefully, I can go back polish off the second, and return to the last one refreshed.

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
I think this is a cool project. And the folk working on it think it's cool. And I've tried to recruit more members and a few non-members. Ideally we need about 8-10 more folk. BUt if we don't get that, we shouldn't give up. We'll just extend the deadline and fewer will do more.

And we will be famous.

At least in our own minds and to Squirrels everywhere.

And the ones who opted out won't get ice cream cones.

1. I did not know bribery was to be involved. If we have any say in the nature of our frozen goads, I should like to order a mint-ship double on a sugar cone from a Thrifty's drug store in the late sixties.

2. I shall now change my plans and listen to a bunch of music I have had for years but never had the time for while pshopping my cold, black heart out. Brace yourselves, my little pixels, Daddy's going trackballing!

dbpm-s, wondering if the upgrade to CS6 is worth it...

Everyone gets an ice cream cone - it says so in the thread header. But my time machine is on loan the rest of the year so sorry, you will have to settle for modern ice cream goodness. Otherwise I would take us back to 1967 for ice cream floats in the Tunkhannock PA Ice Cream Parlor.

Regarding Adobe'... If you have a version pre-CS5 - yes. If not, prob not unless you are big into 3D. That's big into, not big IN 3D. For the latter, you don't need photoshop then. CS5 is awesome and was worth the upgrade.

Adobe' Fotoshop is awesome. No one can guess that I'm 130yrs old!

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
I concur with GbyPandanista. First I am also a zillion years old...and remember way too many software products that are famous now..and the ones they superceded.
I use CS5 for lotsa video stuff...I mean a metric shiatload...and it rocks. I also have access to CS6. For all that I use it: for video and: for Mrs TVs stills of National Parks, wildlife etc..and: for my meager contest entries...and I do not see any reason to upgrade yet. When I went from CS3 to CS5 it was huge...this would be not-so-much.
For me, Adobe is the king for still manipulation. I use quite a few packages that are real good at one aspect or another..but none do so well - so much.
EXCEPT...Avid Mediacomposer for my video. This is no knock at Adobe. Avid stuff is kinda pricey...and the best at what it does. However, Just like Adobe, there are ALWAYS new upgrades. Some worth it some not depending on what you use it for. Avid isn't shy about the volume of upgrades after all AVID stands for Another Version In Development.
My 1.5 cents worth.

On the EPIC thing. If there is time to kill cuz we still have a few openings...I would volunteer to do some Opening or Closing credits/moving video we could edit into the project. If needed..just tell me how many seconds and what you need and I will whop up something for you all to approve. I have no pretense when it comes to my pshop skills compared to all you ninja photoshop gods. But I can make a video sing.......

I will likely take you up on that offer since you are the resident video expert. I want to have a contest for opening and/or closing image, but will still need roll in and end credits. I want to make sure everyone gets the credit they deserve.

Unless folk pop out of the woodwork, I'm not hopeful we'll reach 25 participants. PSC created their video with a lot fewer so I know it's possible, I was just hoping for good representation. I want to see where we are re: participation then I'll likely open it up for additional contributions.

Everyone...

If you have existing images that meet the themes (and technical criteria), please feel free to use them. While it would be neat to create for this video, some may already have content that meets the goal. And if we don't hit the magic 25 participants, for sure we can open it to dream(s), warning(s) and you(s) for those of us with multiple personality disorders. Not naming names... Happy3

Per my question, I did go with a previously made one for the dream but then decided to use it as part of a bigger image for it. So, technically, it's a new creation, IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MWAH HAH HAHAHAHAHAHHA

Hey gang... I'm late to the game, but glad to be part of it! Should be great fun!

When was the last time you did something for the very first time?

Glad to have you along wickedfish. I am having a block, got 2 done, or as best I'll get them for now, the warning one is hanging me up.

RE: EPIC Project Chatter
After doing the first one twice, I'm almost happy with it. Number two is in process and I have great hopes for "the warning". If number two and three take as long as the first one...sheesh.

Hey GbyP when did you say you were extending the deadline to?

Wickedfish... WELCOME. Grab some pixels and make yourself at home.

I didn't... I wanted to see how many others joined in by Friday. Tomorrow night I plan to send out Mass Squirrel Squeak and some individual requests... the bribe may be bumped up to a Sundae, not sure a cone is enough. So I'll extend the Join deadline to next Sunday, July 8. Then we need to consider who can do what extra, maybe expand scope, etc. I still think it can be fun and cool and well... epic.

If there are no more takers, we will do it all; this project will not be cancelled, though obviously it will take longer. The deadline will likely extended at least 1 month.

FWIW, There were 22 participants for the PSC Roll and 34 for the Zoomquilt that inspired this project. That's why I was shooting for a minimum of 25. The PSC Roll lasts 6 mins & 23 seconds, 1:23 longer than our magnum opus. So I think it is possible to do ours with less than 20 participants.
