Is it possible to create a bigger than maximum image that then gets panned as part of the rollercoastering? like mayhaps an image that is maximum width but much longer/taller, with the virtual camera eye scanning up or down as seems best for continuity? I am not entirely up on the tech for this, but I can think of several ways it could be done...and one of my images is big and portrtait-scaled and I don't want to lose all the detail in the sweat and the fur and the chains and the keys and the clouds and the stars and such.

I think so. If you can work with the 1920x1080 dimensions. So 2x that or 3x that. Think of it like a jigsaw puzzle with 2 or 3 pieces. I don't have an issue with 1 longer image (beyond one frame whether scrolling or zooming) because after we collect the images we would need to create 'transitions' anyway between frames and you are essentially creating your own transition with a larger pic.

My only concern is that we not have too many of these because it limits narrative flow and how these images 'play' and interact with one-offs that stick to the 1920x1080 guide. But I think the group is small enough that we can have several larger images in the mix.
