Let the Games Begin - GbyP - 03-03-2010 11:34 AM

************ Gabbo sez...
This area is intended to allow all of you the chance to create, organize and play your own one-off contests. Whether you want to challenge someone to a H2H battle, want to create a photoshop chain, or just have an idea for something fun to try and want to see how it works, this is the place for you.

Start a new topic and state your ideas or rules, or start a discussion to allow others to help form a collective set of rules to play by. You can create your topic as a poll to form a rudimentary voting system, even at a later date (topic starter has to edit the first post to turn a post into a poll). Test the limits, and see what kinds of new challenges you can come up with. - Gabbo1928

Some Open Challenge Ideas
Here are some ideas discussed...

2. Water challenge - put a room, home, or street underwater with an added challenge aspect - rushing water, turgid, deep sea elements
3. Night to day challenge - convert a night pic into a daylight pic; added difficulty: set the time of day and weather conditions.
4. Seasonal challenge - convert a Summer pic to Winter or some other season. Caveat: No San Diego or Florida pics.
5. Aging/Youth challenge

and a couple new ideas...
6. Compositing challenge - given 4 O's combine at least 3 into a composite
7. Aged Picture challenge - age the O itself so that the photo looks old/worn/weathered
If you have great ideas that you would like to share, please feel free to post your idea in this thread then I will add it/them to the list.

If you want to start a new challenge, you are under no obligation to use one of these themes. But if you want to use one, go for it!

Is there any chance a veteran can start up one of those challenges you mentioned GbyP?

I think I'm getting the hang of the Alphabet Tennis ones, I'd like to see how the others work.

I'm not really sure of the protocol, plus I like to watch. :newb:

Challenge somebody to a head to head match-up. Im sure some of the more imaginative members can come up with some kind of theme.

I've given it many ganders, just trying to stay away from it for now to help decrease any issues there might be about server load.

I'm just too [Image: smiley_chicken.gif] to start a contest I've never participated in before... [Image: blush-smiley.png]

That seems like rather poor form, doesn't it?

It might make me look like a noob. Smile

Re: Welcome to the Mini-Contest Forum! - ElectronChaser - 04-07-2010 05:04 AM

Okay. There is an open H2H skills challenge open in GbyP's contest tracker. If somebody can come up with a theme along those lines, I will challenge YOU.

I'm still confused a heck EC. Should I just sit back and wait for something to happen?

Now, something happened.

If there's a problem with the timeline, we can change it.

The fun part is that the winner gets to challenge me, as a fourth contestant sets up a new challenge and waits for me to have my ass handed to me by one of you two (I don't have a great track record in these things) as the cycle of Misfit Life continues...

Did this happen?

Or do we wait for the BIG contest to end?

It did in the other threads... this is a forum for discussing mini-contests, not for holding them, so it happened further down the "Mini-Contest Zone" page.

I think.
